“Omotenashi” is the word that embodies Japanese hospitality, where every service is from the bottom of the heart – honest, no hiding, no pretending. O-Ku DC offers modern Japanese cuisine defined by the freshest ingredients from around the world and a reference for traditional technique.

Kimball Brienza has spent his career in the culinary and hospitality industry focused on creating memorable experiences for each guest that walks through the door. At Indigo Road, he was integral in taking O-Ku from a concept to a brand and remains committed to the expansion of O-Ku, concentrating on menu and team development across all 6 locations.

Inspired by sister restaurants in Charleston, S.C., Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C., O-Ku DC invites guests to explore rare and unique dining options –traditional sashimi and sushi, innovative Japanese specialties and wood-fired robata-style dishes from the Kitchen’s Binchotan grills. Our thoughtfully curated beverage program complements the menu, focusing on quality ingredients celebrating Japanese culture and DC’s best purveyors. From sushi and sashimi specialties to contemporary robata-style dishes, we create a distinctive international experience in the Union Market neighborhood.
